Palestinians ask Europe to send monitors for elections

first_imgPalestinian election officials have invited the European Union to send observers to monitor upcoming elections planned for the Palestinian legislature and presidency. The elections are seen as an important step toward ending a rift that has left the Palestinians divided between rival governments since the Islamic militant group Hamas seized control of the Gaza Strip from the internationally recognized Palestinian Authority in 2007. Past attempts at reconciliation have repeatedly failed. But Sunday’s invitation to the European Union was a sign that the Palestinians are serious about holding what will be their first elections in over 15 years. An EU official confirmed the bloc’s readiness to “provide everything possible for the success of the electoral process.”last_img

Imperial Riviera realized 90% of the planned investment activities this year

first_imgThe most significant investment refers to the hotel Valamar Parentino (ex Zagreb), bought last year in the destination Poreč, which received the first guests of this year last weekend. With the reconstruction and extension of the facility, in addition to the existing 230, 99 new accommodation units were built, so that with 812 basic beds and extra beds, the hotel can accommodate more than 1.000 guests.  The second largest investment of the Imperial Riviera refers to the destination Makarska – the second phase of renovation and repositioning of the Valamar Meteor Hotel.  Although most investments in tourism have been stopped and prolonged this year, Imperial Riviera has completed almost all investments planned for this year, ie it has realized 90% of the planned investment activities. This year, new zones with 55 new luxury mobile homes have been arranged, and one zone has been converted into a zone with premium camping pitches and complete infrastructure. A new zone for accommodating 20 mobile homes has been arranged in the San Marino Camping Resort, and other smaller investment projects have been implemented per facility.                                               Imperial Riviera investment cycle “This is a specific year for Croatian tourism, and especially for the started investments, so that every new realized project in tourism this year has a special value. Due to extraordinary circumstances, we had to temporarily suspend work on all investments, but we did not give up and we managed to realize as much as 90% of our planned investment activities. All these investments add value to the tourist offer of the Imperial Riviera facilities, in all three destinations”, Points out Vlado Miš, President of the Management Board of Imperial Riviera. The most significant investment relates to the Valamar Parentino Hotel (ex Zagreb), purchased last year in Poreč, the second phase of refurbishment and repositioning of the Valamar Meteor Hotel in Makarska and in the Padova Premium Camping Resort on the island of Rab. Most of the planned investments in the Valamar Parentino Hotel in the amount of HRK 113 million were realized this year. Apart from accommodation, the investment also refers to the development of other services. Maro facilities have been supplemented with a new playground, the pool complex has been expanded to include a relax pool for adults and a children’s pool, a sun deck with a new 200 m140 pool and two slides that descend from the roof of the building. A new Oliva Grill Snack Bar has been built and the capacity of the main restaurant with an extraordinary sea view has been expanded. A stage for evening programs, a new transformer station, new promenades were built and the capacity of the parking lot was increased. The hotel will employ about XNUMX employees during the season, and with its offer and facilities, it is primarily intended for families with children. The third phase of the investment cycle in the amount of HRK 20,7 million was realized in the destination Rab in Padova Premium Camping Resort, so that the total investments in this camp in all three phases during the last three years amount to more than HRK 60 million.  Within the Valamar Meteor Hotel, along the promenade and the beach, an investment was made in a new facility with a catering offer, called Trattoria La Pentola. This is already the fourth La Pentola restaurant in Croatia, branded in accordance with Valamar standards, and the first of its kind outside Istria. At the end of 2019, Imperial Riviera started the largest investment cycle so far in the amount of HRK 226,2 million.  After last year’s renovation of 112 accommodation units, this year’s investment includes the refurbishment of the remaining 166 accommodation units, reception and lobby areas, construction of a new outdoor pool complex, refurbishment of the indoor pool and spa area, implementation of the Maro animation concept, refurbishment of the meeting hall and entrance and driveway . “The temporary suspension of the construction site from March 25, which lasted for about a month, prevented the timely completion of the investment and putting the hotel into operation, so that work on the remaining 25% of the investment will continue after the tourist season. stand out from the Imperial Riviera.         Imperial Riviera currently has in its portfolio six hotels, three tourist resorts and two camps in the leading Croatian destinations, the islands of Rab and Makarska, which makes a total of 3.618 accommodation units and a capacity to accommodate 9.000 guests.last_img read more

Mourinho wants FA Cup response from stuttering Man Utd

first_imgManchester, United Kingdom | AFP | Manchester United will be desperate to bounce back in the FA Cup fifth round against Huddersfield on Saturday, their first match featuring opinion dividing video assistant referee (VAR) technology.Defeat at the hands of Newcastle at the weekend left Jose Mourinho’s men second in the Premier League but just four points clear of Tottenham in fifth as the race for the top four heats up.Now they travel to Huddersfield — where they lost in the league earlier this season — ahead of a testing run of fixtures that could define their season, with major questions over how best to deploy club record signing Paul Pogba and new boy Alexis Sanchez. “It’s very difficult to put me in a position where I have to criticise my players,” said Mourinho when quizzed on Pogba’s lack of form, which saw the £89 million ($125 million) midfielder dropped by his Portuguese manager when United last faced Huddersfield a fortnight ago. There have been mixed reactions to the VAR system, which has been used in a handful of League Cup and FA Cup ties. The recent fourth-round FA Cup tie between Liverpool and West Brom proved particularly contentious as the extra official awarded Jurgen Klopp’s side a penalty, ruled out a goal for his opponents then confirmed another would stand.– Mourinho backs VAR –“When people ask us if we like it, if we don’t like it, if we agree with it or don’t agree with it, I think honestly it’s a question for the referees,” said Mourinho, who said he backed the system but that it needed adjustments to preserve the flow of the game.Share on: WhatsApp Pages: 1 2last_img read more
