Dr. Mary Jane Juanico, head of DOH CHD 6’s Infectious Disease Section, in a press conference, said that five of the new cases in Alimodian are five health workers and eight are locals. Among the health workers are a medical technologist, a nurse, and three midwives. The DOH-6 said the cases are contacts of a locally stranded individual (LSI), a 22-year-old female, who earlier tested positive for Covid-19. He added the augmentation force will stay there until the ECQ lifted. “We sent additional personnel to Alimodian town to augment the local police there for security. Once a certain area placed under ECQ automatically the police will secure,” said Lucas. The 13 Alimodian locals who were tested positive for the disease were among the 33 new cases logged in the region as reflected in the health bulletin released by the Department of Health-Center for Health Development (DOH-CHD 6) in Western Visayas on Monday. “I told my men to take care themselves and observe quarantine protocol while rendering their duty and social distancing must be strictly implemented,” he added. The new cases in Alimodian involve 10 females and three males with ages ranging from three to 55 years old. “Most of the healthcare workers are directly involved in the management and consultation of the patient,” Juanico said. ECQ is a form of community quarantine implementing temporary measures imposing stringent limitations on movement and transportation of people, strict regulation of operating industries, provision of food and essential services, and heightened presence of uniformed personnel to enforce community quarantine protocols./PN All the cases are asymptomatic and on facility quarantine, she added.
