first_imgSania Mirza returns a shot to Chan Wing Yau Venise of Hong Kong during the women’s singles tennis event at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China, Thursday, November 18, 2010.India’s Sania Mirza outclassed her Chinese opponent to make it to the quarter-finals of the women’s singles tennis at the Asian Games in Guangzhou on Friday. Sania defeated Shuai Zhang 6-2, 6-2 to make it to the last eight. Sania – ranked 166th in the world – was on top of the game from the start and dominated Zhang, who is ranked much higher at 91. Sania had on Thursday defeated Hong Kong’s Chan Wing Yau Venise 6-1, 6-0 in just 50 minutes to book her meeting with Zhang. Sania – a silver medallist at the Commonwealth Games held in October – has said she will strive to win a gold medal for India in the Asian Games.last_img
